BJØRNHOLLIA (914m) to DØRÅLSETER (1040m) via HØGRONDEN (2115m)

9 hours 15 minutes, 20.5 kilometres

Elevation: Extremely steep, parts moderate, parts steep

Features: Mountain summit

Return on yesterday’s path up Langglupdalen. After crossing just over 4 kilometres proceed north at the junction toward Høgronden’s summit. The western path marks the low-level well marked 7-hour route to DørÅlseter (see Route 9 Rondane Circle), and although long, it presents no major obstacles.

Back on the high trail to Høgronden, after taking the north-east alternative at the junction, you will ascend slowly for the next 5 kilometres over talus all the way to the summit. The north-east ridge provides an extremely steep rocky descent for one kilometre, becoming less demanding at about 1700 metres. As you continue to descend you turn west, pass the lake at 1461 metres, and drop below the Midtronden cirque. The moderate trail passes a small lake and crosses the Dørålen about one kilometre before DørÅlseter (P/100).
